Burning Crusade hits alpha fase
In theory, Blizzard wanted to keep that fact a secret, since they let the participants (family and close friends of the devopment team) sign an NDA agreement that even forced them to deny the alpha test alltogether.
"The existence of the Friends and Family Alpha Test and all elements thereof (including without limitation this Agreement) is confidential, and you agreement to maintain secrecy associated with the Friends and Family Alpha Test until such time that Blizzard releases such information publicly."
Tough luck for Blizzard, as they put the NDA notice on their website for everyone to read...
