Burnout 3 XBox Live problems

At E3 this year, EA officially announced their partnership with Microsoft to support XBox Live with their games. For EA to come on board, Microsoft was forced to allow external servers to be connected to the service and now it seems that decision is causing problems for EA. Burnout 3 is ran on EA's own servers and things haven't been going too well it seems. From xbox365:

Burnout 3 has been a pretty good title for EA, however, certain parts of the online game suffered from some dramatic flaws, such as not being able to get into the lobby, friends lists going AWOl and other XBL problems. EA has moved to get things working as fast as possible and the EA Europe office today announced the downtime of their servers due to ‘maintenance’...

This news actually dates from September 14 but it seems we missed it somehow. Still, more than interesting enough to get it posted.
