Just received this press release from The CPL that they will be holding another female-only tournament.[BLOCK]The Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL), GameGirlz and Stomped, jointly announced that the Babbage's CPL $100,000 tournament will host an all-female Quake 3 one-on-one tournament with $7,500 in cash prizes sponsored by Stomped.com. The first prize will be $3,000 in cash and additional prizes which will be announced at a later date.

The GameGirlz / CPL All-Female Tournament - Sponsored by Stomped is the highest cash prize female Quake 3 tournament to be held to date, and will be taking place at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas, Texas.

Thirty two female gamers will be able to register and participate. The preliminary rounds will commence Friday, December 15, 2000 at 10:00AM. The finals will take place Saturday, December 16, 2000.

Cash prizes will be distributed as follows:

1st $3000
2nd $2000
3rd $1000
4th $500
5th $400
6th $300
7th $200
8th $100

Female gamers over the age of 15, that want to enter this tournament must first register online for the Babbage's CPL $100,000 event at register.thecpl.com. Once a reference number is obtained, they may proceed to a special registration site that will be launched at register.thecpl.com/female/, on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 at noon. The Quake 3 one-on-one tournament will be limited to 32 female participants and will be held in a dedicated tournament area on identical Gateway computers[/BLOCK]Anyone want to have more proof that female gamers are rare and need special attention to get out in the open ?
