Activision has announced that a year subscription for their Call of Duty Elite service will cost you 49,99 dollar, which will probably also be the price in euros.

For that amount you get access to all DLC as long as your subscription runs, and before it gets released to "normal" players. You can expect at least 20 pieces of DLC, with a maximum of 1 month between each. Extra maps of course, but also new game modes and Spec Ops missions for instance.

Next to that this Premium Elite will give you access to online competitions in which you can win prizes like in-game items, iPads and jeeps. The contests will be divided into different levels, something for everyone, and be controlled 24/7 to avoid cheating.

Other advantages are that you get eight times as many room for uploading HD clips of your experiences in games. This comes down to a full 24 minutes of film! Also you'll profit from videos taped by the best players in which they give you strategies and tips, and episodes created by amongst others famous Hollywood producers Tony and Ridley Scott.

Will Arnett and Jason Batemen (Arrested Development) are also making a TV show called Noob Tube in which they comment on played multiplayer games.

Those who buy the Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 3 get the service free for a year.

All in all we still think this is a bad evolution. Didn't we already get this stuff for free from let's say Bungie with Halo 3 or years ago already with just about any decent FPS on PC?

With Battlefield 1942 you also got updates, there were lots of competitions, free tips from everyone and Youtube movies as much as you wanted. There are a couple of new extras, but those are exactly the ones nobody seems to be waiting for.

However, we're also sure millions of people will be subscribing and having fun with the service. Stupid people are everywhere.
