Call of Duty lawsuit starting to take its toll
Former IW heads Jason West and Vince Zampella better make sure their new studio will make them a lot of money as it looks like they'll need it.
End of last month, Activision decided to add Electronic Arts to the list of defendants in the big lawsuit regarding Call of Duty and the departure of both Infinity Ward heads to form Respawn Entertainment under the wings of EA.
Both men have now come forward, asking the court to not honor Activision's request as the publisher apparently knew already six months ago about EA's involvement in their departure and only came forward with this end of December so that the trial, which is supposed to start in May, could be postponed.
Meanwhile, West and Zampella are paying all their legal fees out of their own pockets and it's starting to become quite a bit of money:

Meanwhile, West and Zampella are paying all their legal fees out of their own pockets and it's starting to become quite a bit of money:
West and Zampella are protesting this expansion of the case and any possible delay, stating that the pair "are paying for this litigation from our own funds" and that to date the cost of the case has "[exceeded] our combined annual salaries".
In closing, they say "any delay of the trial in this lawsuit would increase the financial and non-financial burdens and would continue to distract us from running our business and earning a living."
Whether or not EA will be included in the case and the date for the trial will be postponed will be decided by the court later this month. No doubt to be continued. In closing, they say "any delay of the trial in this lawsuit would increase the financial and non-financial burdens and would continue to distract us from running our business and earning a living."
