Capcom Co., the maker of the ``Resident Evil'' series of video games, doesn't plan to merge with other game developers, Chief Financial Officer Heiji Oshima said, denying reports the company may be bought by Nintendo Co.

CBS reported on its Web site earlier this week that Nintendo, the world's second-biggest video-game maker, may buy Osaka-based Capcom, which forecast a loss in the year ending March 31.

``Those reports are totally groundless,'' Oshima said in an interview. ``We have no immediate plans to merge or tie up with other game makers.''
