Carmack: Doom 4 not such a long wait anymore

In a recent interview with Official Playstation Magazine, id Software's John Carmack stated that it won't be taking much longer before we'll see Doom 4 in action:
“Well we’ve got Doom 4 going on right now below our feet here.”
“..the Doom team are all sped up and working on this technology base – I’m not really at liberty to discuss much about it, but it’s going full steam ahead right now,”
“it shouldn’t take as long to ship as Rage. It’s already in the pipeline and we feel good about it.”
Although you may interprete that last sentence as "it will be out before Rage", but we're a bit more careful with that and tend to think he's more stating that total development time will be less than that of Rage.
