Chaos in EVE Online after alliance got disbanded
Posted on Friday, 6 February 2009 by L0k1-, source: eve-online
Infiltration, assassination, piracy, theft and much more occurences are something you wouldn't really expect in a MMORPG, until you've played EVE Online. Some creations of players get destroyed after several months or even a year because of someone with bad intentions. And this is what happened two days ago.
One of the largest alliance in the game called Band of Brothers (BoB) is no more. This alliance controlled hundreds of solar systems and was one of the biggest players in the game itself. It seems that a high ranking member disbanded the alliance and at the same time stole a large sum of ingame money and items.
Band of Brothers is saying that the account of one of their director members got hacked and are trying to undo the damage with several petitions. It is a known fact that the developers and the leaders of this alliance have close ties, but if it'll help them this time is to be seen.
GoonSwarm on the other hand is saying that they're responsible for it. This alliance lacks the elite players of BoB, but has the manpower to compensate. According to them, one of their members started infiltrating the alliance of their enemy over a year ago until he had a key position within BoB.
What GoonSwarm is saying isn't that really strange, because there are several corporations(guilds) in the game that specialize in infiltrations and offer their services to interested parties. These infiltrations can take up several months till even a year before they achieve their goal.
How this new EVE Online soap will end is currently not known, but for the latest updates regarding this matter, click here :)

Goons lack the 'elite' players bob has? What a clueless dolt. The author must be referring to another BoB in another game.
well AFAIK BoB got less players and still they can take on GoonSwarm which has superior numbers. So yes, then that means BoB got a bit more skilled players.

What L0k1 meant to say I think is that BoB has a higher average SP than Goonswarm. Which in the beginning was definitely true, but over time the headstart was probably caught up for a large part. Because members in Goonswarm got more experienced, because they took in more experienced members and because BoB had to take in less experienced members after a while.
I'm just curious if the "spy" had "shared" his account like many directors do to make sure someone with the needed powers can log in when it is required... or if he really deserted, or maybe was an agent.

You must be a dumb pubbie.
Any corp that calls NPC space it's home because it can't effectively take and hold 0.0 space is in NEED of 'elite' players, and does not have them in abundance.
