China: censorship ahead
Posted on Thursday, 14 December 2006 by Speed, source: Gamesindustry.biz
China has always been a land filled with censorship. Especially Western influences were closely followed, think of the Rolling Stones concert where the best songs weren't allowed to be played.
Also games seem not to be able to escape from the all seeing Chinese eye of censorship. A new law obligates imported titles to be sent to a seperate committee who will see whether the game isn't too violent or contains too much sex. After this check, the makers are no longer allowed to change anything to the game.
With about 23 million gamers and revenues of 640 million euro in China, developers have no choice to obey.
By the way: these rules also apply for imported online music.

Do not let this continue...sponsor a Chinese defection, talk about it at the dinner table, this is NOT a tabu subject. The world needs to realise that what is happening in China is wrong and cannot be tolerated.
that's how much i believe in this
