Chinese government restricts gaming

The Chinese government does what it can to make youngsters game less. All online game developers are given until July 16 to add software to their games that makes sure adolescents play less.

When the gamer is under 18, this software may allow three hours of undisturbed gaming. If they keep playing after this, their scores will be cut in half for the next two hours.

After five hours of gaming, they won't get any points at all. Moreover, every fifteen minutes they will be given a message to make clear their behaviour is unhealthy and to tell them they need a break.

The companies don't really mind, since most of their clients are not under aged anyway. However, the clients need to give their real name and passport to buy the game and that's worrying them more.

"The system requires every online player to register with their real identity. This will scare away many adult and young users," BDA China chief analyst Liu Bin told People's Daily Online.

Companies who are not following this rule, will be forbidden to release their game.

Good. Finally.

Now we'll see a break in gold sellers on EU servers that play 24/7 as a real job locked up in some basement in China.

In any case, at least China cares. Not like EU or US governments ever care this much about their people.

Hack and cracks. The system will not work and dedicated gamers will find a way around it and publically release it. This will simply add additional delays to development of games.

How can you call that taking care of its people dude.

Thats bullshit big brother at work big time, its the parents and only the parents responsibilty for shit like this, if a kid games to much and then that affects his health or anything else then its down to the parents to stop it.

Forcing people to play less but fucking with there scores would never wash over here and there is no way i would take my passport to by a game.
I dont get how people get so caught up in this rubbush, its just a game nothing more nothing less and if somebody wants to play 24/7 then they are more than entitled to do so.
We all have the option to play for stupid amounts of time if we so desire but if we choose not to then we have no right to condem those that do.
No one has any right to tell anyone else what they should and shouldnt do.

Yeh I was only referring to the play less part, not the passport thing.

How many parents have you seen take proper responsability for their kids gaming? How many?

I'll answer that question now, not ONE of any of my friend's parents ever gave a damn. To them, if their kid is playing games, it means he's leaving them alone to do their shit and not doing something worse like smoking weed. That's the way they think. And i've seen shitloads of documentaries about hardcore gamer's parents doing jack.

Can you honestly tell me that people know what's best for them?

When a guy decides to take drugs to fit in with his friends, does he think of what's best for him? No, he's blinded by short term desire and stupidity, which he will later in his life regret, but it won't stop him from doing it now, or doing dumn things later too.

People don't learn.

It's basically the "Does democracy work" debate, and a great quote says "Democracy ensures that the people only elect the leader they deserve" ro along those lines.

Now look at America with Bush, that's the most democratic country and they're in the SHITTER because of it atm. Look at the EU with it's corruption and 50% bloody income tax in Belgium, that's turning to socialism. The guys you elect don't care about you, they care about being re-elected in 4 years, but until it's the election year, they'll be corrupting and stealing money as much as possible.

I have no clue where you're going with this, but tying it in with your original point, Communism works better than Dictatorships? You said you were glad someone is finally looking out for these people then go to say how the government doesn't give a shit.

Taking the parent out of the equation and making the government step up isn't going to do anything as far as "helping kids play less." They will find ways to circumvent the system if they want. But even more it sounds like you want the kids to play games less and go out and smoke weed.

It seems like you got caught up "in the moment" and went on about things that don't quite fit in with each other. So I must say, what are you talking about? and what point are you trying to make?

In China they do. I believe you can still be shot on the spot for possessing a political cartoon unfavorable to the government. There is a long history there of people being oppressed by the government.

Nah mate you completely mis-interpreted my post.

I was saying that the EU and US governments don't give a shit, but that the Chinese do.

Especially given China's incredible economic growth, you'd think they would avoid hampering businesses in any way since atm this is their main goal.

China has managed to blend an iron fist in some things to complete liberalisation and capitalism in the economy, which atm is working much better than what the EU or US try to do.
