Clive Barker returns to gaming scene with Jericho

Posted on Tuesday, 18 July 2006 by Ryuken, source: HollywoodReporter
The Hollywood Reporter has a story up of Clive Barker's Jericho, a new open-ended horror game, to be published and developed by Codemasters.

Here is what Clive Barker said about it:

"There are things in my imagination which I think can only be paintings, things that can only be books, and this thing has to be a game," Barker said. "Is there a movie in it later? Sure. But what it has to be is what it's going to be first, an absolutely killer game."

"I don't want to give too much away just yet, but the concept is that somewhere in northern Africa there is a walled city which is not just a walled city but walls within walls within walls. It's like Russian dolls, spaces within each other, and trapped inside each space is a slice of time where the warriors of good have gone against ultimate evil and have lost."

Expect it to be released on PC and next-gen consoles in late 2007.

Previous Clive Barker games were Undying, an unsuccessful EA fps which is still one of the most frightening games ever though, and Demonik, an action game which has been presumably cancelled by publisher Majesco.

Yeah, Undying is hands down one of the best horror games I have ever played! Looking forward to this one!

I second that. Truly great atmosphere in that game. A pity with the sales failing back then.
