Codemasters get new Chairman & majority shareholder
Posted on Friday, 3 February 2006 by Speed, source: Fragland.net
Codemasters sent out word that Chris Deering, former president of Sony Entertainment Europe, has joined the company as non-executive chairman.
What the guy will exactly do at Codemasters isn't really clear as the press release focuses mostly on his past career.
Additional interesting news, however, is that Codemasters is now 70% owned by venture capitalist firm Benchmark Capital Europe, who's acquired another 30% of stocks after their initial buy of 40% in April 2005.

Ynon Kreiz, General Partner at Benchmark Capital Europe, comments:
"Since our initial investment last year, Codemasters has demonstrated that it can become a major force in a very competitive and dynamic industry. The additional investment and the appointment of industry icon Chris Deering as Chairman further strengthens our commitment to making Codemasters a global leader in the video games market. We look forward to continue building the company and benefiting from our successful partnership with Codemasters founders, the Darling family."
