Console owners: all you need for 3D is a firmware update
In a recent study performed by research firm Interpret, 63% of all console owners questioned believe that all you need to enable 3D in your home is a firmware update.
I guess they questioned too many PS3 fanboys?
the biggest barrier for 3D seems to be price, with 69 percent claiming that the televisions, which cost thousands of dollars, are cost-prohibitive.
Nevertheless, the most interesting takeaway from Interpret's research appears to be that consumer education is set to be the biggest challenge to 3D adoption -- even among game console owners, generally a tech-savvy audience.

Playstation 3 with the new firmware update can decode 3D to display to your tv so the tv knows how to display the images being fed to it. But without 3d glasses to filter the left and right images you'll get a blur.
I realised there would be a cheap fix to give ps3 owners 3d with their normal flatscreen however i'm sure sony doesn't want to loose sales on 3d tv's.
You can buy usb powered 3D shutter glasses from nvidia which is a big improvement over old video connected systems. So if you connected nvidia 3D glasses to your ps3 usb and sony added firmware to send left right perspactive video sync to the glasses through the ps3 then your tv would work perfectly in 3D.
PC users have done this for a decade now where the 3D is all driven from the computer and decoded in sync with tv display.
I hope people will start emailing sony and get them to add 3d glasses support through the console.
I think nvidia 3d glasses are about $300, not cheap but good quality and you save 90% on a 3d tv.
Unless 3d tv has a filter on it or lenticular lens. The tv can produce 3d with 120hz as ideal refresh rate. but you need glasses to filter the images.
