Craig Hubbard on NOLF

The l33t dudes over at VoodooExtreme have spoken with Craig Hubbard from Monolith about the recently released game No One Lives Forever, which appears to be the first really great game coming from Monolith (I haven't received it, so no review up yet)[BLOCK]Craig Hubbard: Probably our greatest asset was the list of mistakes we made during Shogo. We started this project with a pretty sober view of what we could achieve. As a result, every major feature we outlined made it into the game, as well as a few additional items we came up with during the project.

It also helped that we felt an overpowering need to prove ourselves. For various reasons, some of the titles Monolith has developed in the past haven't lived up to their full potential, to say the least, which has led a number of people to assume that we're incompetent. I'm a firm believer that actions speak louder than words, so the only suitable reply we could offer our detractors was a game that convinced them we're not idiots.

Strength from adversity, baby. That's one of the themes of the game. :)

Obviously, we can't please everyone, but the response so far has been very gratifying. It's comforting to know so many people have been willing to set aside their understandable misgivings about Monolith and give the game a chance. I'm optimistic that some of those people who still harbor a grudge or aren't impressed with NOLF will evaluate each of our upcoming titles on its own merits rather than based on preconceived notions about the company itself. We've learned a lot from our mistakes.
[/BLOCK]and there were alot of mistakes to learn from ;)
