CryEngine 2 at work in High-Res trailer
It has been a while since we last received news about it, but today the successful developer Crytek has reveiled a high res movie at the PDC Microsoft Conference. The trailer, which features their advanced CryEngine 2 has been circulating the web since September, but this time, you'll be able to watch it in high resolution. This new graphics engine will show it's worth in their upcoming game, Crysis.
Very little is known about the game itself, since Crytek is flooding the media with the graphical highlights and not the game itself. No wonder, because the CryEngine 2 will be the first graphics engine to support DirectX10, which will of course garantuee some graphic effects we've never seen before. Among these effects, for example, volumetric clouding and dynamical light/day cycle.
Fragland wouldn't be Fragland if we wouldn't have gotten you a frontside row for this visual fest so be sure to download the trailer from our Downloads page. Aside from this delicious trailer we also have you some magazine scans that are available for your viewing pleasure in our Screenshots section.
Crysis is due for release on PC at the end of 2006.

So is the day/night cycle part of the game or just a demo of what the engine is capable of? Cause if it's part of the game, then that might mean we get to play in one Huge map instead of split up levels.

Windows Vista is said to support DX10 and should be available Q3 or Q4 this year, right ?
Also you need DX10 video chips to generate DX10 graphics so guess ATI and nVidia must be on the way with such chips but haven't heard anything about it yet...
