Crysis Warhead PC at $699, specs surface, convenient PC gaming
Posted on Monday, 8 September 2008 by daffeh, source: chrisremo.com
Chris Remo, one of the head honcho's over at Shacknews had a little chat with Crysis franchise producer Bernd Diemer, who explained what the machine was all about, what they wanted to achieve with it and who gave up some of the more interesting details.
”When we started working on Warhead, we decided performance was a big issue,” he said. “So we said, ‘Guys, we’re going to build a PC which has a maximum price of six or seven hundred dollars, and it has to run Warhead in high spec at an average framerate of 30.’
I'm sure this will please many gamers but here is the important information: The specs (or those he could remember at least).- CPU: Intel Core Duo e7300 (@2.66GHz)
- Video card: Nvidia 9800GT
- RAM: 2GB
Now this seems quite reasonable, no? My guess is they noticed the original Crysis ran as smooth as an 80 year old lady on Valium and then decided to go and write some decent tweaked code.
The last quote from Bernd seems like they finally figured out why alot of people didn't buy Crysis... they just couldn't play it conveniently without doing tweaking efforts or upgrading.

"The biggest thing for us is convenience," Diemer concluded. "We want to make PC gaming convenient."
