Crytek says next-gen console too weak for Crysis

Good news for all PC gamers out there!

TeamXbox have heard from Crytek's Bernd Diemer, senior game designer of Crytek, that the next-gen consoles will not be able to properly run Crysis and that people better start saving for a decent PC if they want to play the game

Diemer explained that “next generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 do not offer the sufficient power” to assure the quality of gameplay Crytek demand for Crysis.

It was about time someone stated that PC rulez everything! (har har)

Thats a very interesting statement. Although I'm not a fan of the PS3, its supposed to be pretty powerful. So that leaves me with two things, either it was going to be too difficult to do it for the ps3 or your going to need some kind of super computer to play this game. I dont plan on purchasing either of those two anytime soon so whatever their reason, I suppose I wont be playing that game for a while.

Im sure i said something on here somewhere about having to upgrade your PC's to quite a cost in order to get these graphically amazing games to run and i got instantly shut down and told that was a load of rubbish and that these games would run on cheap dell's.

Please read above 2 comments :-) .

Crysis is a DX10 game, PS3 and X360 are DX9 consoles. I'm guessing he means "to see Crysis in full glory".

Because, if they can't make Crysis run on a 360 (lets compare it to a A64 X2 4800+ with X1800GT), not to mention a PS3, then I think they're in trouble, since almost no-one will be able to run it then.

Crytek need to make sure there game plays as good as it looks first before they start to go on about people paying ridiculous amounts of money to play it.

Most if not all of the most successful online games are not graphically amazing they just have great game play. I wouldn't even consider spending 2k on a PC for any one game. It would compare to asking me to buy an arcade cab in order to see and play the amazing graphics.

Great graphics alone don’t make great games FACT. I have seen a lot of people going on about 360 and PS3 but you could buy 2 of each for the amount it would cost you to get a decent PC these days.

Quad this and quad that what about just make a good graphics card are those days gone. You buy cutting edge technology at ludicrous prices and it is 2 years and another upgrade before you see anything worth playing on it.

Money, Money, Money, that’s all it’s about buy this upgrade for this game and then get this card then this card it never ends and for what 2 frames more and some graphical trickery that makes you think you are really there, well your not and never will be my friends it’s all an illusion.

If you want really great graphics look out of your window from time to time, you will be amazed at how life like things look, and that little trick is free.

Crytek lol it will be Crybabies if this game flops because of hardware demands.

I find it difficult to believe PS3 would not have the performance to run Crysis. My bet is it would simply be too difficult or time consuming to port it to PS3 due to different architecture.

Xbox360 is a totally different story, though.

So im not the only person who thinks you need to spend a whole lot of money to get a PC with enough grunt to run games with all the detail maxxed out and at a respectable framerate to the point where they look better than console games.

I dont understand this whole PS3 being an uber computer and the X360 being just an average console that most on here think isnt capable of much, every time a new console is released its hyped to the max and we are made to believe it will blow everything else out the water, especially by Sony who are the kings of hype.

PS3 will be in graphical terms on par with the X360 and both will go head to head and before you start mentioning any games in particular that look stunning on either console and games that look shit on either console, just try to realise that all consoles have stunning games and shit games on launch and through there whole lives.

In case you need it spelling out,The PS3 has Assisins Creed which looks incredible but also has Warhawk which looks pants and also has Full Auto 2 which looks indentical to the X360 version and i cant see how they got away with calling it number 2.

The X360 has Kameo and Gotham3 and Gears of War is on its way and all those are stunning games but it also has The Outfit which is shocking and Gun which is the same as the Xbox version.

Numbers and power mean fuck all if it isnt used right.

Sure thing that new consoles are always hyped.
The problem is that the editor runs with 4 Gig and the team tries to screw it down.
Good way to say "PC" and Vista only.
A way not to find excuses for the delay till Summer 2K7 - Just connect the development of the game officially to often delaying Microsoft releases.
