Crytek takes over Black Sea Studios

Posted on Monday, 14 July 2008 by Ryuken, source: Crytek
After setting up their own new studios in Eastern Europe Crytek is now even taking over existing ones, like Bulgarian Black Sea Studios.

These lads were responsible for the RTS games Knights of Honor and Worldshift and are now renamed to Crytek Black Sea.

Crytek GmbH today announced that it has acquired Bulgaria-based Black Sea Studios Ltd. Under the terms of the acquisition, Black Sea Studios will become Crytek Black Sea, a wholly owned studio. Black Sea Studios development team will remain in Sofia, Bulgaria. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“We think the acquisition of Black Sea Studios is a great opportunity to continue our strategic growth and expansion. Black Sea Studios already has a very qualified and experienced development team in place and will be continually expanded in capacity to join our tradition of producing highly innovative and creative games which Crytek is known for.”, said Avni Yerli, Managing Director of Crytek.

“Joining the Crytek family was a logical step for us as we think it is a perfect match. We are confident that our team has the creativity and passion to further contribute in creating innovative and enjoyable games. We are fascinated about this opportunity and we are looking forward to work in this new exciting environment as Crytek Black Sea.” said Vesselin Handjiev, Managing Director of Black Sea Studios, now Crytek Black Sea.
Well, well, while Worldshift is still under the radar for most people in the world Knights of Honor was a decent strategy title, some would say it's the game Lords of the Realm III should have been. Knights of Honor 2 on the Crysis engine? Yes, please.
