DRM causes massive Spore piracy
It seems that EA's attempt to counter piracy with a highly questionable copy protection method has in fact resulted in massive piracy.
Forbes has spoken with Big Champagne, a peer-to-peer research firm, and its CEO, Eric Garland, is reporting that even for a highly popular game, the amount of illegal downloads is extraordinary.

Forbes has spoken with Big Champagne, a peer-to-peer research firm, and its CEO, Eric Garland, is reporting that even for a highly popular game, the amount of illegal downloads is extraordinary.
In just the 24-hour period between Wednesday and Thursday, illegal downloaders snagged more than 35,000 copies, and, as of Thursday evening, that rate of downloads was still accelerating. "You have the power to make this the most pirated game ever, to give corporate bastards a virtual punch in the face," deathkitten added in another comment.
I wonder whether EA will change their view on DRM towards future titles..."You have the power to make this the most pirated game ever, to give corporate bastards a virtual punch in the face," deathkitten added in another comment.
