DS beats Game Boy, Wii defeats NES
It has happened. The Nintendo DS has been sold more that the old GameBoy, while the Wii managed to outsell all its predecessors.
The latest financials from the console maker show that the DS has been sold 27.110.000 in the last year, which brings the total amount to 129 million. That's about 11 million more than the GameBoy.
The Wii has equally impressive numbers with a total sale of 70.93 million units, of which about 20 million crossed the counter the last year. That makes the Wii performing better than Nintendos number two: the NES which sold about 61,9 million times.
On the Wii Wii Sports Resort sold 16,14 million times, followed by Wii Fit Plus with 12,65 million and New Super Mario Bros. Wii with 14,7 million.
