DS gets Web Browser and TV Tuner

Posted on Thursday, 16 February 2006 by Speed, source: IGN
Nintendo today announced at a Tokyo press conference that the Nintendo DS will be getting a web browser as well as a TV tuner.

The brower, which will be called Nintendo DS Browser is a project by Nintendo and Opera Software. This addition, which is based on the mobile Opera Browser, uses the bottom screen of your DS to show web pages in their full form, and the top screen will be used to show closups of the sites.

But a maybe more impressive addition is that of a TV Tuner. The service called "1 SEG" will start as of April (April fool's day joke?) with broadcasting digital info for mobile devices in Japan.

The browser will be available in Japan as of June for about 3800 yen. For the Digital Broadcast Tuner card there's no release date yet.
