DS most popular console Down Under
Thee Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (iGEA) saw last week that the sales of games dropped again 16%, but Nintendo did find a reason to have another party.
For the fifth year in a row the company saw its Nintendo DS be the most sold console in Australia. The handheld sold no less than 520.000 times which made it go over 3 million units in total. The previous record holder over there was the PS2 which sold 2.6 million times.
There was also good news for the Wii which managed up to now has sold over 2 million units. Last year Nintendo's console sold 420.000 times, making it the fastest growing in Australia.
The DS and the Wii together were good for 58% of all consoles sold in Australia. On software 47% of all games sold were for a Nintendo platform.
