DVD Review: Poseidon

Posted on Saturday, 25 November 2006 by Speed, source: Fragland
It's time for crap again as we've checked out the DVD of Poseidon, the remake of 1972's The Poseidon Adventure.

With Kurt Russell in one of the lead roles and director Wolfgang "Das Boot" Peterson at the helm, you would think a movie about a boat could be something great. Well, it isn't.

the original was good for the time it was released, this remake doesn't add anything (except for some improved effects) and gets rid of everything that made the original a success. I didn't get ANY excitement from watching this movie, no emotions what so ever.

I, on the other hand, went completely nuts, the excitement just was too intense.

Most critics around the world completely destroyed it, but I think it does a damn fine job when it comes to make an up-to-date version of the original. People now can relate to the new one, as they once did to the (now) old one. Sure, no new stuff but hey, hence the term remake ...

I really enjoyed this movie when i saw it at the cinema, i thought the boat turning over was just incredible and i thought the feeling of Claustrophobia and the fear of drowning potrayed in some of the scenes was enough to make me sympathise for the characters, the scene when you watch someone drown was a little hard to watch as it genuinely looked as it would which is horrible.

All round i thought it was a good movie and a good remake and im looking forward to watching it again when i get it.
