Like in almost every Eastwood's movies, the main subject is just there to bring a more psychological/ethical subject. So there are not just about war ;)
For Flags Of Our Fathers, the real subject of the movie is clearly the manipulation of media/pictures by the government.
As for Iwo Jima, the subject is the psychology of the japanase, the devotion for the motherland and how some of them don't want to die for 'nothing', breaking centuries of tradition of honor.
So, for "Cons", there is "nothing" , even if you don't like war movies ;p
(As for me, who is kinda in love with Japan, i find Iwo Jima way way way better than Flags Of Our Fathers :p)
Anyway, Eastwood confirms with those movies that he is one of the best in movie industry.
