This really is one hell of a movie! Didn't have a clue what it was about when i went to see it, but i just loved it! Already preordered mine, so can't wait till the 11th. The score is also superb; so.. thumbs up on this one!

I first heard of this movie when I saw a trailer at the movies. Looked very good, I like McGregor and Johansson (the latter even more than the first for obvious reasons) and the story seemed interesting. Unfortunately the director's name also appeared at the end of the trailer, making me loose al interest. :(

The movie is pretty bad.

When I went to see it, several months ago, I was actually pleasantly surprised by the first hour of the film. But... after that hour (in which he built tension in a very un-Michael-Bay fashion) he just did what he always had done before, namely blowing everything skyhigh. That's when I started disliking the movie. Don't get me wrong, I like his action flicks (Armageddon, Pearl Harbour, Bad Boys 2, The Rock,...) for what they are: pure brainless entertainment. But in The Island, Bay tried to do something different that ultimately backfired. Imo he should have continued on the great first hour. Not bad, but not great either.
