Dan Hoecke on Zero-G Marines
Ga-Source spoke with designer Dan Hoecke about the recently announced Zero-G Marines[BLOCK]Zero-G Marines is a 3D, Real time, First Person Action game for the PC. It contains the best elements of space combat with strategic elements. This will appeal to both types of gamers. There will be multi-player support. The player’s combat unit will be broken down into 5 man squads (8 for eight-person multiplayer).
It takes place among 6 major space stations in our solar system. The year is 2353. You are Christopher Kane, a member of a newly formed and specially trained unit, put together for space combat in state-of-the-art combat suits, called Exo-Shells. A top-secret military bio-chemical research project on Space Station Europa has gone horribly wrong and a microbian virus has infected the inhabitants, physically creating a new neuro-transmitter. They have become zealots and have quickly taken over all 5 space stations, by infecting everyone they can. They now threaten earth itself.
TerraCorp, the governing body of the planet, is an alliance of major world governments and corporations. It has sent the elite Zero-G Marines to end the threat and retake the stations, using deadly force. The former military leaders and head scientists, known as the council of 9, control the Zealots. The shadowy supreme leader is now calling himself Nihilo (Latin - ex nihilo: from nothing). [/BLOCK]
