Dave Perry resigns as producer to seek buyer for Shiny
The infamous Dave Perry, founder of Shiny Entertainment (known for brilliant games like Earthworm Jim, MDK, Sacrifice and crap like Enter the Matrix and Path of Neo), has resigned as Producer at his firm so he could spend all the time actively searching for a new publisher that is willing to take over Shiny.
The previous owner, Atari, wants to get rid of some of its development studios (due to financial problems) and Shiny is one of them. So, Dave is out there searching and he sounds pretty confident:
The previous owner, Atari, wants to get rid of some of its development studios (due to financial problems) and Shiny is one of them. So, Dave is out there searching and he sounds pretty confident:
"Atari can go ahead and sell Shiny but I think I can help too because I’m on the board of a lot of things. I can bring a lot of parties to the table and I can do that faster if I hit the streets myself," said Perry, who began hitting his contacts Friday and said there was "a lot of interest out there."
"If I’m an employee of Atari, then I’d be stepping all over them. This way, I’m representing a buyer. I can act swiftly and get buyers on the table. I pitched Shiny last time and got $47 million."
"Last time" was 2002, when game publisher Interplay sold Shiny to Atari for $47 million. The new owner would get at least three games that Shiny’s 56 employees are currently working on. One is a sequel to Earthworm Jim.
Aha! A return of the worm at last. Perry is coming back to Shiny once his quest is completed."If I’m an employee of Atari, then I’d be stepping all over them. This way, I’m representing a buyer. I can act swiftly and get buyers on the table. I pitched Shiny last time and got $47 million."

Can't imagine they ever imagined that would be a gaming succes. Sure, it's great for all the movie fans, but gameplay value = 0.
