Deus Ex 3 dev: Deus Ex was slow

Posted on Wednesday, 22 October 2008 by Speed, source: Edge-Online
Edge will be publishing an interview with Deus Ex 3's lead designer, Jean-Francois Dugas, who stated that the original - and much praised - game was "kind of slow".

“There weren’t enough exciting, memorable moments. It was aimed more towards a simulation rather than a game experience.”
I guess that those looking to get that original experience back can forget about it. The new Deus Ex 3 will probably more like Serious Sam or something?

The guy of course doesn't want to say that and keep up appearances by stating they don't want to dumb down anything:

“At this point we don’t know exactly which platforms we’re going to be out on. The PC, we’ll be there for sure. But for us, console-isation isn’t about dumbing down features. If we’re to go console we will want to keep the complexity alive. We want the menu interface and controller to feel simple without risking any of their potential"
So keeping menu interface and controller to feel simple without risking any of their potential is the same as not dumbing down on features? The guy has some strange ideas if you ask me. I sure hope those two quotes from the interview aren't really related as otherwise my previous Serious Sam mentioning might be not even that far fetched...
