Did Assassin's Creed save Ubisoft?

Over at the Financial Times is word that Electronic Arts has been eyeballing Ubisoft ever since it took a minor share in the company, but with Assassin's Creed selling so well, the value of Ubisoft has risen quite a lot which makes a takeover less imminent due to being too expensive.

So things may not be going as well with EA as they would want them to be. Not only is a takeover of Ubisoft not really the thing to do at this moment, with Vivendi taking over Activision they aren't even the number one publisher in the world anymore.

Good. Even if other companies eventually become like EA, just the name EA makes me want to vomit, so the worse it is for them, the better for us gamers.
