Doom 3 PC review

Posted on Wednesday, 1 September 2004 by Speed, source: Fragland
Four years waiting and now that it's finally released I found it to be one of the hardest reviews to write. Doom 3 is here and you can read all about it in my latest review.
Be sure to read it as with this review the scores nor the pro's and con's are sufficient to understand what's good and what's bad about this game.

I would like to personally add, perhaps as a footnote is that... I found, when I too missed the urge of playing the game... I think it was due to the fact that Doom 3 uses a lot of the same techniques too much. Monsters shooting behind you is only scary the first 15 times. It became tedious for me to play the game, but only to the point where it paralells watching a great movie twice in a day. It's still good, but nothing is new, there's nothing to really experiment, nothing to change pace, nothing to add something to be excited about.

And this is all just my opinion, so let's not flame me shall we?

I feel completely the other way.

First of all it is Doom: Doom is played inside in small halls and dark places shooting everything that gets in you way.

Then there are the really fine "puzzles" with barrels and containers and the real fun lies withing trying to open the lockers or read some of the email. There are also numerous references to the gameshistory which is really cool I think.

Weapons have really improved to and make it fun to experiment with it, this was togheter with Far Cry one of the best fps Singleplayer experiences in a long time for me.
