Doom 3 flash site, 4 players+ in multiplayer
After the long-awaited gold-announcement of horrorshooter Doom 3 we now get to see the revamped flash site of the game. News, links, a game description and some media/screens are available there.
On a sidenote, more details have emerged about the multiplayer component of Doom 3. In this short Gamespy-interview id Software programmer Robert Duffy talks about the networking architecture for Doom 3 multiplayer games. Apparently the peer-to-peer structure which was proposed in the beginning was replaced by client/server mechanics.
Because of this it's possible for modmakers to get more than four players into a single Doom 3 multiplayer session (the standard limit of the retailversion will be four players). The Win32 dedicated server will be included with the game itself, a Linux dedicated server will be released around the Doom 3 launchdate.
