In Germany, it's not easy to get a violent game sold. The rules are pretty strickt and most times developers/publishers try to go around them by coloring blood green or replacing opponents by robots and such.
Big was our surprise when PCGames.de today announced that Doom 3 will be freely available in Germany !
Reason for this is that the game doesn't reward overkill, isn't cynical concerning murder, violence isn't encouraged and there are no splatterscenes...
Since Commander Keen, Doom 3 will be the first game from ID Software to be available in Germany (though there's an 18+ rating) and I guess this doesn't really give a lot of hope to those that were looking out for a gory bloodfest.
