Duke Nukem Forever Feature

GodGames have posted a feature page on 3D Realms' baby Duke Nukem where they talk about the history of the Duke games, going from the beginning with Duke as a 2D platform game, to the recent selling of the publishing rights for Duke Forever to Gathering of Developers.[BLOCK]In 1991, Apogee Software was an unassuming little game developer based in a suburb of Dallas, Texas. The interactive entertainment industry was still recovering from the bone-dry eighties, and at the time, no one could have placed much faith in a tiny game developer from an obscure corner in the game industry's geography to establish a franchise that would change the face of video games forever. In the minds of the public, gaming belonged to brand names like Sega and Nintendo, console giants that primarily hawked their wares to the 15-and-under crowd. If your wagon wasn't hitched to one of these behemoths, you weren't going anywhere in a hurry. But in the original Duke Nukem title, Apogee Software laid the groundwork for the one of the most successful franchises in gaming history. Additionally, Apogee created the concept of the game "demo", now an essential element in game publishing's process of releasing finished titles to the public.[/BLOCK]
