Duke Nukem Forever 'extremely sexist'

Posted on Tuesday, 29 March 2011 by Speed, source: Gamespot
Fox News has again made the news! This time because they've put their aim on Duke Nukem Forever.

After shooting down Bulletstorm before for its "extreme forms of violence in the game", they've now taken a look at Gearbox Software's latest for its "extreme sexism".

On Fox' website an article appeared that completely rips apart the entire Duke franchise. Duke Nukem 3D from 1996 painted all women as strippers and prostitutes and Duke Nukem Forever will go another step further in that sexist tradition. According to the article the game starts with the Duke getting fellatio from a twin in shool outfit. Totally inappropriate according to Women's Media Centers vice president Jamia Wilson:
"It was offensive then and it's even more offensive now," she told Fox News. "These depictions of women are extremely harmful, especially to young women."
Also the 'Capture the Babe'-mode in the multiplayer gets little appreciation. Especially the part "slam the babe on her ass if she starts making noise" really is over the top for them.

Eliot Mizrachi from the Entertainment Software Rating Board put an M-rating on the game and said the following:
"This game carries a Mature rating indicating that it's intended for ages 17 and up, and retailers overwhelmingly enforce their store policies requiring that M-rated games not be sold to a customer under that age without a parent's consent,"
From the classification statement we got the following part:
"A few sequences strongly imply sexual acts: two women appear to perform fellatio on the central character (e.g., raising their heads from his lap)--though there is no actual depiction of the sex act; Duke moans and leans up against the wall of a bathroom stall (furnished with a hole)--it is implied that a sex act (not depicted) occurs."
Duke Nukem sexist? Now THAT is something we had never expected! In other news: water is wet and getting killed is bad for your health!

Too many people out there without a life I suppose...
