Dungeon Siege 2 NPC sells PSP game

Over at Arstechnica is word that the makers of Dungeon Siege 2: Broken World are going pretty far with in-game advertising. So far that they even have an NPC that tries to sell you the PSP version of the game...

In Dungeon Siege 2: Broken World, our forum goer Scero found an NPC that told him about the Dungeon Siege PSP game and offered him a code for it, as well as saying the PSP game had a code for items in the game he was playing. Way to help us suspend disbelief. Even worse, this "ad" was voiced by the character.

So, how far is in-game advertising allowed to go for you? You find this acceptable or not? This guy at least didn't like it at all

If the ads were in a modern setting for a game (lets say a gta type game) then its ok by me, but in a fantasy game... no way, not acceptable. That's how I feel about it anyway. :p

um, i don't think that was an ad for the psp version, i mean, come on. who wants to play an rpg on his computer AND his psp? the NPC was merely describing those codes you can use between platforms to gain extra items. who the hell will buy an extra version of the game just for a few items? wake up, bloody hell...
