E3 Press Conference: Nintendo

Posted on Tuesday, 7 June 2011 by Speed, source: Fragland
Today it was up to Nintendo to do equal or better than what we got to see yesterday already.

An overview:
  • Shigeru Miyamoto celebrates the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda.
  • Zelda: Link's Awakening available on Virtual Console as of today.
  • Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, with improved graphics, arrives in stores for the 3DS next week.
  • The co-op game Zelda: Four Swords Adventure will be a free download for everyone later this year
  • The release of Zelda: Skyward Sword will coincide with the release of a golden Wii-Mote
  • Register Ocarina of Time and you'll get the soundtrack for free
  • Global President Satoru Iwata states it's Nintendo's goal to "serve every gamer". And that's the goal of the new console that gets announced later
  • Montage of Mario Kart, Star Fox, Super Mario, Kid Icarus and Luigi's Mansion voor 3DS.
  • Reggie Fils-Aime states "You want comfortable and surprise." The new console and the 3DS will take care of that
  • Trailer of Mario Kart 3D, the first of five in-house titles Nintendo will show at E3. Has an underwater level, but for the rest everything looks pretty familiar. Available this Autumn
  • Star Fox 3D will be playable through buttons and motion-sensing. Cameras will record the reactions of opponents in multiplayer.
  • Completely new Mario game Super Mario 3D. Looks more traditional than Galaxy. Release still this year
  • Kid Icarus: Uprising confirms the many good we've seen already. Hectic action in singleplayer against sometimes giant bosses, both on the ground as in the air. Multiplayer battles 3vs3 look a bit boring.
  • Luigi's Mansion 2. Varied environments, beautiful colorful 3D graphics and lots of monsters. Multiple mansions will be playable. Cool.
  • Some third party titles: Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games 2012, Ace Combat 3D, Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D, Driver Renegade, Tekken 3D, Resident Evil: Revelations, Tetris 3D, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D.
  • Pokédex 3D can be downloaded for free in the Virtual Console. By swapping with your friends you can complete your Pokédex.Social, Connection, Interaction are the code words.
  • Successor of the Wii will be the Wii U. "Both for us and you". Controller looks like a tablet with two joysticks and a few buttons. You can use the controller seperately. It has motion sensing and the second screen also allows different camera angles. Controller can be used for aiming in FPS games. Content can be shared between Wii console and Wii U-controller. Screen is 5.2 inches big. No need anymore for a TV. Two triggers, microphone, speakers, gyroscope, camera, touchscreen. Coming in 2012. Iwata does make it clear that although there are similarities with portable consoles, it's not meant to be one. Content (pics, movies, ...) can be shared with your family between TV and Wii U.
  • New Smash Bros. gets teased. It will communicate between 3DS and Wii U.
  • Multiplayer capabilities: a player with Wii U gets chased by four players with Wii-mote. The Wii U gets different point of view as the other players. Tech demo, no real game.
  • Lego City Stories from TT Games coming exclusively to 3DS and Wii U.
  • New Assassin's Creed, Tekken and Darksiders 2 coming to Wii U, as well as aseveral EA Sports titles. Also Aliens: Colonial Marines, Metro: Last Light, Ghost Recon Online and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge are headed to Wii U which clearly wants to focus more on hardcore titles.
  • EA's John Riccitiello eses potential for Madden NFL 12 and Battlefield 3. Also the online capabilities will become very important. He says that it's the best platform Nintendo has ever announced.
