E3 Press Conference: Sony

Posted on Tuesday, 7 June 2011 by Speed, source: Fragland
The plan was to bring it live to you, but seeing as my internet died on me last night, we'll just give you a summary.

Sony had quite a lot to make up for with the entire PSN fiasco last month so let's see what they've cooked up:
  • Short montage of everything that will pass by on PS3 and NGP: Uncharted 3, Ace Combat 6, Cars 2, Journey, Patapon 3, Sonic, Green Lantern, Infamous 2, Final Fantasy XIII-2...
  • CinemaNow will support PSN, but not clear whether that also goes for Europe
  • Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception passes by. Cruise ship level goes all topsy-turvy and there's even a 3D part. Looks cool.
  • Resistance 3 demo given. Bundle announced that will cost $150 and includes Resistance 3, Move + Controller, PS Eye and gun controller.
  • Also 3D playable HD bundles of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus and the God of War PSP-games are announced.
  • 3D coming to the masses. PlayStation Monitor tv-screen announced, 3D-enabled with a feature that lets two players each see a full screen, on the same TV. Costs 499$ for the screen, HDMI-cable, Resistance 3 and two 3D-glasses.
  • NBA 2K12 demoed with Move by Kobe Bryant from the LA Lakers. The presenter plays the Miami Heat against Kobe's Lakers.
  • Medieval Moves: Dead Man's Quest is a new Move game where you can take on all kinds of knights and skeletons with bow, sword and ninja stars. No inventory: weapon selection is based on movement. Game has a cartoony look and reminds a bit of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • Trailer for Infamous 2, which will be out on Wednesday. Extra content is already on the way and the player will be able to make his own multiplayer levels, playable with Move. Same also goes for LittleBigPlanet
  • Starhawk, Sony Santa Monica's new third-person shooter shown. Transformers-like robots and Mad Max-like vehicle combat.
  • Sly 4 is coming! First trailer shown.
  • Dust 514 will be a PSN-exclusive sci-fi MMO shooter, developed by CCP Games (EVE Online). Will give the player access to ever-advancing weapons, vehicles and space ships as long as he's got the money for it.
  • BioShock: Infinite trailer followed by Irrational's Ken Levine who apologises for attacking the Move and then promotes it a bit. Buy Bioshock: Infinite on PS3 and you get the original game as well. Bioshock for NGP also teased a bit
  • Move-enabled Star Trek action game planned that will arrive in 2012 alongside J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek movie. Will also see the release of a Move controller that looks like phaser.
  • SSX will have Mount Fuji as exclusive level for PS3 owners. NFS: The Run will have 7 PS3-exclusive cars, and Battlefield 3 will come with the full version of Battlefield 1943 on PS3.
  • Playstation Vita is official! Sony's next handheld has 2 analog sticks, 2 cameras, Sixaxis, OLED touchscreen, touchpanel in the back... Available in Wifi and 3G Wifi-variations. Exclusively through AT&T in the US.
  • Demo of Uncharted: Golden Abyss for Vita. You can play as you want: with buttons and sticks, or through touchscreen and the Sixaxis. All features of other Uncharted titles have been taken over in this one.
  • Ruin, an action-RPG with tons of loot announced. A bit like Diablo and Dungeon Siege. Game offers destructible environments and competitive multiplayer. In multiplayer, the game's dungeons become more difficult, if the opponent has a high level.
  • Cloud saving demonstrated. Rain gets stored on the Vita and second later they continue on the PS3. Very cool feature.
  • New ModNation Racers for Vita shown. Track can be drawn with your finger on the OLED screen i just a few seconds. Same goes for mountains, woods and even lighting. Technically very impressive stuff. Game itself doesn't seem to offer much new. All user-generated content from the PS3 version will be playable on the Vita.
  • WipeOut 2048 offers 'Crossplay', multiplayer between Vita and PS3.
  • LittleBigPlanet for Vita also offers content sharing between console and handheld. LPB will use all unique features of the Vita.
  • Capcom announces Street Fighter X Tekken is coming to Vita and will feature Cole McGrath from Infamous. Short demo shown.
  • Vita will be available this Winter and the Wifi version will cost $249$/249€. The 3G-Wifi-version will set you back 299$/299€.
