EA deletes some servers

Buy the new FIFA if you want to play online
Electronic Arts announced that in the coming months, several servers will be shutdown of their games.

On January 11th they will end the support for online play of The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II and Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II: The Rise of the Witch-king, both are for the Xbox 360. Reason for shutting down is because the deal with Middle-Earth Enterprises has ended.
"We hope you have enjoyed playing these games online and appreciate your patronage. There's still time for one last epic tower rush!"
Quite lame if you ask me, especially the excuse that they're using.

On February 8th several other games will also lose their online support, including FIFA 07 (X360), FIFA Manager 10 (PC), FIFA 09 Ultimate Team and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 on all consoles.

EA added that the reason these games are removed out of their servers, is simply because they only represented 1% during peak moments.
Despite some people's perception, there is a lot of behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping these older games up and running. We would rather our hard-working engineering and IT staff focus on keeping a positive experience for the other 99 per cent of customers playing our more popular games.

These decisions to retire games is never easy. The development teams and operational staff pour their hearts into these games almost as much as the customers playing them and it is hard to see one retired. We hope you have gotten many hours of enjoyment out of the games and we appreciate your ongoing patronage.
Quite sad to see games that have only been out for a year lose their online support, is that the reason we keep paying full prices for these games? More information can ben found here.

There should be a decent minimum length that they should have to keep servers up like, 5 years, or release some kind of support where private servers could be opened legally. Also what is 1% at peak times, I would imagine that 1% will be thousands of people.
