EA doesn't want class action lawsuits either

Posted on Saturday, 24 September 2011 by Speed, source: Kotaku
Following Sony's example, Electronic Arts has changed the terms of service of their Origin service to make sure nobody can launch a class-action lawsuit against them.

The new ToS have the following statements included:
"By accepting these terms, you and EA expressly waive the right to a trial by jury or to participate in a class action.

YOU UNDERSTAND THAT BY THIS PROVISION, YOU AND EA ARE FOREGOING THE RIGHT TO SUE IN COURT AND HAVE A JURY TRIAL.

YOU AND EA AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING."
It's worth noting that this change of terms doesn't apply to everyone. They're focused on the US where class-action lawsuits are quite common. If you live in "Quebec, Russia, Switzerland and the Member States of the European Union", this doesn't apply to you.

You can opt out of these terms, but only by sending EA a letter within 30 days of an update to their terms of service.
