EA fires another 60

Posted on Thursday, 27 January 2005 by Speed, source: Gamespot
Yesterday, EA has a conference call about its latest financial results and again they were pretty decent. However, that doesn't make things safe for people working there apparantly as Gamespot is reporting the Electronic Arts has sacked 60 employees from its LA office

However, EALA's new general manager, Neil Young, turned what could have been a perfectly nice Wednesday into a major bummer. This morning, he announced that the studio was reducing its staff by 60. According to Young, who spoke with GameSpot this afternoon, the layoffs were done in the interest of "rebalancing the teams across the entire studio." He called the cuts the "first step in transforming the studio for the future."

Apparantly, the teams behind Goldeneye: Rogue Agent and Medal of Honor: Dogs of War have been hit most but the layoffs.

They seem to use their employees like their disposable. Wear em out and toss them out.

Yet another reason why corporate capitalism should be killed...I hate money in every walk of life. It destroys the joy of gaming and really kills creativity on what could potentially be some great products. I hope the ones who got canned can find work in some other company who'll genuinely appreciate their talents.
