EA would like one more platform

Gerhard Florin, one of EA's many big bosses, told they would like to see one more big open platform in the future, in stead of different kinds of consoles.

That would certainly ease the development of games for them as they produce games for 14 different platforms.

"We want an open, standard platform which is much easier than having five which are not compatible," said EA's head of international publishing.

They think that in about 15 years every household will have a HDTV with a set-top box, allowing you to stream games from a central server.

Well... I don't.

One platform to rule them all!!! *evil laughter* Muhahahaha

I do like the idea of streaming games. bit worried about the response and lag issues then.

Uhm...

The only reason EA want this is to cut costs and increase their supernormal profit.

Ont he other hand, we consumers want DIFFERENT platforms. We want a choice between good fraphics or good controls, or different movie players (BR vs HD), etc.

Imagine a world with one console...sounds like Microsoft's wet dream.
