EVE Online Trinity Patch is dead Windows

Oops, my mistake! That's what the programmers at CCP must've thought when they released their latest patch for EVE Online. Because of a small screw up on their side the patched game deleted your boot.ini file. So in other words after rebooting you had a dead PC. Luckily the mistake has been fixed and now all the players can enjoy the major graphics overhaul and newly added content.

Reykjavik, Iceland - December 6, 2007 -EVE Online: Trinity was released for download at 22:00 GMT on Tuesday, December 5. Shortly after the deployment of the update, CCP became aware of an issue involving the Premium graphics content download whereby a small percentage of our users may have been affected and now need to make repairs to system files. We immediately set to work to identify the cause and resolve it. A new build is now available and is safe for all users to download and install. Users who are running Microsoft Windows versions other than Vista, with multiple hard drives (or multiple partitions on any hard drive) and began downloading the Premium graphics content before 04:00 GMT on Wednesday, December 6, should visit this link and follow the instructions given to correct any potential system issues.

Ohh well, mistakes happen! :)

well i sort of meant that sarcastic, maybe i should've picked another smiley my apologies then.

but you say 100 $ to get you going again? isn't it simply formatiing your computer? Or did you need some other components to save sensitive information on your computer?

This happened if you had Windows installed on another partition besides C:, were not running Vista, and rebooted before you fixed the boot.ini file. The fix did not require a reformat, just restoring the boot.ini file from system recovery. Those people who were without a Windows disk or recovery partition were out of luck. (I think it's a great idea to have one or the other)
