We should be getting used to it by now, CCP has announced a new expansion to their famed MMORPG, EVE Online.

Those familiar with CCP will have come to expect the almost punctual announcement around fall, for an expansion due in the winter. This year is no exception to this trend. The new expansion will be called Dominion, and for now not a whole lot is known about it.

In a familiar fashion the announcement was coupled with the launch of a feature-site for the game. On this site you'll find two links. One referring to a trailer that has already been in the running for a while, and another link that redirects you to EVE's main page.

For now this main page carries more information than the feature-site. One of the things we learn at the former is that in the upcoming expansion the Sovereignty system will be revised. CCP proudly announces they've combined input from fans with their own game design vision to come up with a "brilliant mix".

Besides this, new epic arcs have been added for the pirate factions, with the first iteration of an integrated social networking platform called COSMOS. This way artists should be free to rebeautify planets.

That all sounds pretty good, but for the moment the news remains pretty vague. Especially the last part, about the social networking and the beautification of planets can turn out to be pretty much anything. As usual though we can expect frequent updates, and "filling-out-the-blanks" from CCP. In the end felicitations are in order, Dominion does mark the 11th free expansion to CCP's well known MMO.
