Epic doesn't regret exclusivity
Gears of War 2 developer Epic Games officially stated that they don't regret that their games were released exclusively on Xbox 360.
This comes after a statement from videogame analyst Michael Pachter during the Bonus Round from Gametrailers. Pachter said that he believes Epic probably regrets not being able to release their titles on Sony's console due to their exclusivity contract with Microsoft Studios.
This comes after a statement from videogame analyst Michael Pachter during the Bonus Round from Gametrailers. Pachter said that he believes Epic probably regrets not being able to release their titles on Sony's console due to their exclusivity contract with Microsoft Studios.
Pachter:
"I think that Microsoft has a contract to make sure that they get [Gears of War 3], but I think Epic regrets signing the contract," Pachter said.
"You're up to 11 million PS3s in the US and probably a similar number in Europe. You've got a 20 million addressable market with a game like Gears of War...that thing would easily sell three or four million on the PS3. That's a lot of profit."
Mark Rein, VP Epic Games, has reacted to that saying Pachter competely missed the ball and added that they're very happy with their contract and have a good relationship with Microsoft:"I think that Microsoft has a contract to make sure that they get [Gears of War 3], but I think Epic regrets signing the contract," Pachter said.
