FIFA 06 with Rooney and Ronaldinho on the cover

With the start of the new soccer season (in Belgium as far as I know), fans start looking forward to the next season: autumn. Because that's the time when EA Sports releases the next chapter of its soccer game.

Same thing this year, as FIFA 06 is waiting impatiently till it is sent out onto the field. And like players in their new shirts, the game will come in a new box, starring Wayne Rooney and Ronaldinho.

If you ask yourself who the hell these people are, you know about as much of soccer as I do. Rooney had to following to say about the choice of EA:

"I'm a big fan of EA's FIFA series and I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on the final version. The game is very popular with many other players, especially when we travel together for away matches, and it's a great honour for a young player like myself to be chosen to be featured on the cover of FIFA."

Ronaldinho shared with us the following:

"I feel very privileged to be asked to feature in another FIFA release. The game gives me the opportunity to play the matches I want to play every day of the week – even while away from the field."

Finally, some new features were uncovered that should convince people of buying the 06 version:

It will deliver a combination of attacking gameplay, complete player customisation, pure authenticity and an all-new manager mode - we think football fans are going to like what they see.

Gamers will be able to create a star player and customise every aspect of FIFA 06 to fit their individual playing style and preferences. Furthermore, an all new FIFA 06 Lounge and online play will provide gamers with as much football as they want, whenever they want it.

"It will deliver a combination of shockingly awful and unrealistic gameplay, completely pointless player customisation, zero authenticity and an all-new manager mode which is more of an afterthought than anything else - we think football fans aren't going to like what they see, and certainly not what they play."
