the game will only be released on DVD in Europe. North-america will get it on CD's. It seems the 'all-on-dvd' is not for a near future :/

If you can't afford a €30 DVDRom, you surely don't have a system high tech enough to play Far Cry anyway. Switching CD's is sooo tiresome. Bold and brave move.

I wouln't be so sure about this hurting sales actually, if you can run Far Cry, you'll probably have a DVD drive as well... It's just another system requirement, and someday they gotta make the step forward into the unknown anyway, who remembers the days of Floppy disk games eh? :D

I also remember that The 7th Guest was one of the first groundbreaking games to appear on CD-rom only and cdrom finally got its killer app with this game. I wonder whether Far Cry will be the killer app for DVD.
If Doom 3 would be DVD only, I would be the first to say sales wouldn't get hurt, but Far Cry ... ?

t won't really hurt sales I believe. About 80% of all people already have a DVD drive...

I think of all pc users, 15% have a dvdrom player atm.

75% of the regular gamers should have a DVDrom I guess. Most new computers have a DVD player now, and you'll need a decent and new pc to play Far Cry.

When the FAR CRY demo was >500mb, i wonder how many gb the real game will be. I guess they choosed DVD to prevent the ridiculous amount of CD-R. And I agree that a modern PC has a DVD player today!
Anyway I have ordered the game in advance :)
