Far Cry dev raided by police

Posted on Thursday, 5 February 2004 by Speed, source: Fragland
In a rather strange twist of events, Gamesindustry.biz is reporting that Crytek, developers of highly anticipated shooter Far Cry, have seen their offices raided by the German police in search for illegally copied software
Crytek is thought to stand accused of using pirate copies of certain software tools used in the game development process - with damages in the six-figure range (in Euros) being quoted. According to the law enforcement agencies, they became aware of Crytek's case following a tip-off from a former employee of the developer.
Crytek has posted a mentioning of what happened including comments on their site and here's a quote of what they have to say
The management of Crytek is grateful for the diligence of the German Police Department concerning protected software and fully cooperated in every way. As a software devloper, Crytek is always interested in properly obtaining and utilizing third party software. Development of the eagerly awaited Far Cry was only delayed for three hours while police cleared the matter with Crytek and it's management staff.

Despite false allegations that have appeared in various media and forums, no inventory or personel were affected in any way. Crytek would like to assure its fans that completion of Far Cry remains on track.
