Final Fantasy IV officially coming to DS
Square Enix officially announced another Final Fantasy game will be converted to DS. Final Fantasy IV, originally released on the SNES in 1991, will get a remake for the handheld. Earlier, that was also the case for FFIII.
You won't be able to call it a port because the game will have new 3D graphics, redesigned characters and monsters and a lot of movies. Besides that, the fight system will also get an update and evolve.
The story line will have more details and depth. Amongst others, this will be realised by making the characters more important. At least, that's what Tokita and Asano say. However, they will work together with the original developers so the game will stay close to its roots.
A release date isn't known yet.
FFIV is being developed by the same staff that brought FFIII back to life on the DS. Takashi Tokita is executive producer and director, Tomoya Asano is producer, Hiroyuki Ito is battle director, Yoshinori Kaneda is storyboard chief, and MATRIX is working on development.
