CCP games released the first details of Incursion, the next free expansion of EVE Online. Below you can find a summary of the press release.

Improvements of Planetary Interaction: Players will have more depth in the control of their planet's resources.

Incursions: The player can team up with like minded individuals and fight so called incursions of the Sansha Nation. The deeper you can get the higher the rewards will be.

EVE Gate improvements: Each EVE Online pilot will get its own forum through the EVE Gate website. They will also be able to broadcast messages ingame.

Revamped character creation: Each player will have to remake his characters. This is needed for the introduction of Incarna. This future expansion will give players the option to walk around on space stations.
