Flashpoint 2 gets lifelike animations

When you aim to create a realistic war game, immersion is key. Apparently Codemasters has taken this to heart and has struck a deal with Image Metrics to provide lifelike facial animations for its upcoming title Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising.

The deal entails Image Metrics creating the facial expressions to be used in the cutscenes by lead characters in the Operation Flashpoint 2 storyline. Brant Nicholas, Senior Producer at Codemasters had the following to say:

"Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising will take players closer to war then they've ever come before. To achieve that end, we turned to Image Metrics' facial animation solutions because of their unique ability to perfectly capture the range of emotions that soldiers experience in combat."

In total IM will develop 57 shots, worth 262 seconds of animation (a months work), for the upcoming title.
